Retractable Solar Screens

The Retractable Solar Screen has revolutionized the shading industry.  By mounting to the exterior of you home or business, you can successfully block up to 90% of heat and harmful UV rays from entering through the glass, while keeping your view and protecting your valuables from fading. (Psssst! - Tinting doesn't).  Developed originally in Western Europe to help consumers save money in a costly energy market, the solar screen has migrated to the United States.  We began manufacturing our version of the retractable solar screen in 1986 and have adapted it and used it for many applications.  For example, the retractable solar screen can be used to close in patio areas by running it between the patio cover's upright columns. The Solar screen fabric comes in a wide array of colors, widths, and densities. We use solar screen fabrics manufactured by Mermet, Twitchell Textilene, and Phiffer.  For a sample card of solar screen fabrics, please fill out the information request form below.

Drop Roller Curtain

The Drop Roller Curtain is similar to the retractable solar screen.  However, it usually means a solid fabric is being used instead of a screen fabric- creating a curtain effect. You can also use clear vinyl  instead of solar screen fabric when wind breaks are required and heat is not a factor. Sunbrella® acrylic and Mermet blackout fabric may also be used when complete privacy and/or sun and wind blockage is desired.

All units can be manually operated or motorized.  Each unit can be made with or without certain system components. For example the box enclosure may be eliminated when covering the fabric when retracted isn't a necessity. The side channels and fall bar may be replaced with a weight pipe sewn into a pocket at the base of the fabric (this system is a cost effective solution to sun/wind issues when enclosing a patio area).  There are two system sizes - the Mini System for smaller width windows/areas, and the Maxi System for larger width windows/areas.  Because this systems mounts to the exterior of the building, sometimes 1 Maxi system can be used when covering a bank of windows or group of openings instead of multiple smaller units.  (For example: If you have four windows together and the space between each window is 12" or less and the total width of all four windows is less than 20'0", a single motorized Maxi System would be less expensive than 4 individual manually operated Mini Systems. Or if you have a patio cover where you can mount a single Maxi System and cover two openings, it might be more cost effective than 2 Mini Systems.)
